I make it easy for you to securely and responsibly recycle your eWaste. You must be within 20 miles of Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
I accept the following units, my recycling fee is only $20.00 per unit: Computers, monitors, laptops, printers, faxes and all-in-one printers. All brands are accepted for secure recycling, even Apple or Macintosh, and regardless of where they were originally purchased.
I’ll also accept the following items for FREE, along with the pick up of at least one larger paid item: Ink and toner cartridges, smaller computer peripherals, keyboards, mice, speakers, modems, cables, adapters, cell phones, PDAs and rechargeable batteries.
I DO NOT accept the following items: Televisions, floor-model copiers/multifunction devices or other non-computer-related appliances.
Why do I charge for recycling? Many costs are involved with recycling, such as pickup, transport, and delivery, all of which involve time and fuel costs. Some items may generate minimal profit when recycled (such as internal components), but most items carry fees that I have to pay to have recycled at the proper facilities. Even working items that are worthy for reuse cost me time to clean up and prep for donation and fuel for delivery.
Where does it all go? Equipment is temporarily secured at my location, either for disassembly, or for donation and reuse…
- Components from dead computers are separated into bins for environmentally responsible recycling. I ship or transport the items to various certified recycling facilities.
- When I receive working computers, monitors and other items, I test their functionality, clean them up, and donate them to people in need who cannot afford new items. Occasionally items are sold on Ebay to recoup my recycling costs.
What happens to your data? Working hard drives and data storage devices are securely erased (with government-level erasure equipment) and reformatted for reuse. Dead hard drives and data storage devices are destroyed, melted down, and their materials are recycled into other products.
